Marti has a very different background from the rest of the team at Foot in the Door Consulting.  For the last decade, Marti has been a junior high teacher in rural Alberta, teaching and mentoring young adults in a variety of ways. She has taught a wide range of subjects, including English, History, Science, Art, Drama, Journalism, Computer Sciences, Website Design, Forensics, Leadership and Social Awareness, Outdoor Education, and more.

She was heavily involved with the community through coaching various volleyball, basketball and badminton teams, Student Council, and other extra-curricular student groups. She was also the AISI Lead at her school, working with the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) to coach and support teachers with professional growth and development. Her nonprofit passion continues to be working to increase the quality of life for children at the community level through programs such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

During her teaching career, Marti became the Technology Integration Lead at her school.  This role was multi-faceted: she assisted other teachers in integrating cutting edge technology into their unit and lesson plans, coached other teachers in the district on specialized technology such as Green Screen movie production and video editing, and facilitated many sessions during conferences all over Alberta.  She was also responsible for improving and maintaining the school website design, running the school-wide Screenscape system, and producing video and written grant proposals to further the school’s technology focus.

Marti also runs her own travel blog, and through this project has gained valuable knowledge on website design, HTML coding, social media marketing, SEO optimization, meta-data, succinct blog writing, and other skills.  With a new baby in the home, Marti is excited to build and grow her social media marketing career through her work with Foot in the Door Consulting.
